We understand that in healthcare facilities, patient safety is paramount. Given that it’s a well known fact how harmful fluorescent and HID lighting can be to human beings, it’s very surprising that hospitals, medical centers, and doctor offices around the world are still using the dangerous, old technology lighting. The flickering from fluorescents is known to cause dizziness, headaches and nausea, but that’s not even the worst of it.
Most everyone knows that fluorescent lighting contains hazardous Mercury and inert gases (read more). They also give off harmful Ultraviolet (UV) light which, through prolonged exposure, can adversely affect a person’s mental faculties—even damage their vision. With LED lighting, you don’t have to worry about any of that.
The increased optical acuity with LED lighting is a huge advantage, considering sufficient task lighting is essential—especially for critical care zones. LED's sustainability factor means there’s no need to worry about calling maintenance to constantly replace lights; disrupting much-needed rooms and areas. Their extended life allows for far fewer change-outs. There is no question that LED lighting provides a healthier environment and quality of life for patients, doctors / physicians, nurses, staff and visitors alike!
